Originally from County Monaghan Dermot has been teaching in Dublin for over 13 years.
He qualified with a BA Degree in History and Geography from NUI Galway, and then
completed the Higher Diploma in Education in NUI Maynooth in 2008, where he graduated
with first class honours. He had been teaching History, Geography, CSPE, SPHE and ESS in
St. Mac Dara’s Community College in Templeogue from 2008 – 2021 where he has held
various roles.
A keen sports person and a big GAA fan, Dermot played football for his local club for many
years. He was also the manager of the boys and girls senior Gaelic football teams, and the
senior girls basketball team in his previous school.
In 2018 he completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Leadership and
Management in NUI Maynooth. In 2021 he graduated from the University of Limerick with
a Masters of Education in School Leadership (MESL).
Dermot is very passionate about his two main subjects History and Geography and where
possible tries to bring them to life for the students. He is really looking forward to working
with the staff and students in Belmayne ETSS.
