Ruth is currently a Maths and Science teacher at Belmayne Educate Together Secondary School. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics with first-class honors from Dublin City University in 2000, followed by a Master of Science from the University of Oregon in 2004. In 2012, she completed her PhD in Physics at Dublin City University. Her career includes experience teaching in California at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and Humboldt State University. Upon returning to Ireland, she taught at DCU and served as a STEM coordinator for Trinity Access Programmes. Ruth’s research focuses on nanophysics, exploring the intricate world of the very small. Passionate about promoting equity in education, especially within Science and Physics, she is dedicated to fostering inclusivity in her field.
In her free time, Ruth enjoys knitting, reading, swimming, and spending time with her children.
