Cara Bannigan

Cara holds a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Trinity College Dublin, in partnership with the Royal Irish Academy of Music. While studying in the Academy, her
principal instrument was her voice. She also plays piano, ukulele and guitar. She loves singing as part of a choir, and has performed as a soloist at several weddings. She grew up
with a love for dance and drama, achieving all of her Speech and Drama exams. Particularly passionate about musical theatre, Cara has performed leading roles in many musicals
throughout her school and college years. In her previous school, she directed four musicals and this extracurricular work was always some of her favourite.

While studying in Trinity, Cara chose English as her second subject. She loves bringing all kinds of literary genres to life with her students in the classroom. A huge Harry Potter fan
from a young age, Cara has always loved reading. She places very high value on the importance of imagination and creativity, which reading naturally fosters. Cara loves to get involved in all areas of school life to contribute to a positive environment for students and staff alike. In her previous school, Cara held posts of responsibility first as student voice/student leadership coordinator and more recently as the DEIS coordinator, overseeing the school’s improvement plan.

She is excited to be joining a new and growing
team in Belmayne ETSS. Outside of school, Cara is passionate about travelling, photography and volunteering. She has been to 35 countries and counting! She works for an NGO called The Opportunity Project which is based in rural communities in Honduras. Working in the rural schools, we
implement a number of food, water and scholarship programmes to create better opportunities for the people there.
